"While our formal rituals of engagement is evident from the front,

Ngā Kaitiaki was established by concerned locals of the Russell State and Cape Brett forests. This saw whānau (families), hapū (Sub-tribes), landowners, shareholders, farmers and residents come together for a common cause. This was to stop the use of aerial applications of the agent 1080 poison. Many of our members consider our forests as our pantry and the only source of drinking water.
The skill base of Ngā Kaitiaki saw a variation of expertise and a wealth of knowledge with a solution based mindset. With a vision of unity Ngā Kaitiaki acknowledge the need for an in depth assessment for the current state of the 'Mauri' or life force of our forests.
